Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept which embraces the challenge as organisations seek to combine good business practice with a concern for the environment, social, and ethical issues. It concerns the impact of business decisions on local and global communities and economies, as well as on the environment and the workplace itself.

It is more than just responsible business behaviour and observing legal and regulatory frameworks. CSR goes beyond compliance; it describes an overall approach to doing business.

Organisations may choose to undertake a social or environmental audit to assess the ways in which their activites impact on stakeholders and on the environment.

Amongst the key issues often addressed within corporate social responsibility are financial probity, supply chain ethics, employee practices, competitive behaviours, sustainable development, innovative practices, customer service, impact on society and environmental management.
