IMS President Receives Global Excellence Award
Renewable Energy Sector”. The award was presented in New Delhi during the combined inaugural ceremony of the 10th World Renewable Energy Technology Congress and 3rd World Water Summit. After agreeing to attend the congress as a plenary, keynote and valedictory speaker Colin was delighted to be notified of the Foundation’s nomination by its chairman Anil Razdan, President of the Indian Energy Forum and Former Power Secretary, Government of India. Colin’s involvement with the power sector started with his appointment as Deputy Chairman and twice Acting Chairman of the London Electricity Consultative Council and has included Process Vision Holder roles for successful electricity market opening projects in the UK and overseas and a co-lead role during the blueprint stage of one of the largest mission critical utility transformation programmes ever undertaken. Energy efficiency is a concern of some IMS members.
A longstanding champion of less resource intensive business and organisational models and alternative ways of working, in recent years Colin has provided theme papers for and spoken at international conventions and congresses concerned with climate change, environmental management, governance, sustainability, corporate ethics, risk management, innovation, leadership and CSR . Colin also contributes to the recommendations of these events and was a signatory of the concluding combined declaration of the 2019 World Renewable Energy Technology Congress and World Water Summit. He finds that the issues considered at these various events are often interrelated and inter-dependent. In recognition of his international leadership roles and writing and speaking in support of more responsible leadership, last year he became the first honoured fellow of the UN supported Institute for Responsible Leadership. While in New Delhi Colin also spoke at the 2019 Directors Conclave and 29th Annual Day of India’s Institute of Directors. The programme this year featured a Union Minister and no fewer than seven Secretaries of Departments of the Government of India.
